Poul Henningsen design CONTRAST pendant light with adjustable bulb height produced by Louis Poulsen.
The Contrast pendant light was developed by Poul Henningsen between 1958 to 1962 and was one of the last lights designed in his career.
This stunning pendant is effortlessly eye-catching, with 9 white shades surounding a warm, orange core. In typical Poul Henningsen fashion, the bulb is hidden deep in the lamp and only reflections of the emitted light witll be seen, providing a warm ambiance.
A unique feature of this particular design is the adjustability of the bulb height. By adjusting the position which the bulb sits within the shade, the way the light is reflected changes dramatically. As seen in the images, when the bulb is in its highest position, the light is focused downwards, ideal for use over a dining table of a coffee table to create an intimate atmosphere.
When the bulb is set lower into the shade, the light is reflected more widely through the shade, allowing for the light to be diffused further around the room. This is ideal for use in a hallway or a room where you would like a more widely spread glow.
Production of the contrast light was discontinued in 1991, making the contrast pendant light increasingly hard to come by.
