Stylish vintage teak round coffee table with suspended magazine shelf designed by Peter Hvidt & Orla Molgaard. Produced by France & son model FD515 in 1953
This stylish and parctical table comes with a very special provenance.

The tables round top is constructed entirely from solid teak planks and this is evident at the edge where each plank's end grain is visible.
It is possilble to trace a grain structure from the top surface through the edge to the underside - unbroken.

This would not be possible had the table been made with a veneered top.

Suspended from the legs with unique brass fittings is another round shelf that has a central core of woven cane.
The intent for this is to be used to store magazine etc.

The table can be completely dismantled and flat packed for easy worldwide delivery.

This very table which we are offering for sale is the very same table that is depicted in a painting done by Terence Cuneo on the occassion of Her late Majesty opening the Chamber of British shipping Agents at 30 St MArys Axe in central London.
The building was damaged beyond repair by the IRA bomb set off toutsidethe baltic exchange. The gentleman depicted next to Her Majesty was charged with the job of rescuing and restoring the artworks. The painting was re-commision by Her Majesty.

Ownership of the table is through decent in the family.
