Stylish vintage 3 seat sofa with solid teak frame, sprung cushions which are original upholstered in off-white. Designed by Aage Petersen & Produced by GETAMA model GE88
Aage Petersen was the director of GETAMA and got into trouble for this design!
This classic midcentury sofa has all the signs of being a model that was designed by Hans Wegner, but it is not and the designer did land himself into trouble with Hans Wegner because of this.
That was because GETAMA was employing Wegner to design for them at the time and GETAMA's Director Aage Petersen designed it instead of Wegner.
Hans Wegner was of the view that the model took too much inspiration from his design GE233, also produced by GETAMA.
He made it very clear to GETAMA that if that co-operation was to continue, the chairs & sofas would be designed by Wegner himself and not Aage Petersen!
The sofa is in great condition and it has been carefully cleaned, had the frame treated with teak oik to enhance its beautiful patina.
The original sprung cushions have original covers in off-white colour fabric made by Danish Art-weaving.
The fabric is made by Danish Art-weaving and is 70% worsted wool / 24% polyester / 6% cotton with martindale rating of 50.000!
The fabric is available to order should you wish to change the covers on the cushions.
