Master Cabinetmaker Birkedal-Hansen & Søn made solid quater-sawn oak cabinet with 4 locking doors, 2 locking drawers and interior adjustable shelving. The unit bears brass hardware throught, featured in the handles, hinges and keyholes.

Made in 1934, this unique oak cabinet is an incredible example of master cabinetmaker design. The solid quater-sawn panels display exquisite craftsmanship and expert joinery. The face of the cabinet is highly detailed. Each door displays carved panels, with central detaling displaying the stunning 'tiger grain' quater-sawn style.

Quater-sawn oak is cut on a 45 degree angle radially from the center of the trunk, rotating through each quater. This gives the wood a unique tiger grain style. In addition to the grain pattern, quater-sawn lumber is some of the most dimensionallly stable. It exhibits almost no twisting, warping and cupping and its more resistant to moisture penetation. This makes it an ideal lumber-type to work with, especiallin in cabinet making.

The bottom trim displays classic farmhouse-style crurves and shapes as it links sturdy leg to leg. The top edge fans out to give the cabinet an impressive silhouette.

The top doors open to reveal 2 solid oak full width shelves which are fully adjustable via the brass pegs and pre-cut holes inside the cabinet walls, providing you with a large and flexible storage space.

Beneath this are 2 large drawers with locks, offering further storage.

In the lower level, the storage is split in half. Behind each door is its own enclosed storage area, with a single, adjustable shelf inside. The shelf could easily be removed from one section and added to the other side, which again adds to the flexibility of storage options throughout this unit.

This unique, behemoth of a unit is a stunnig example of exceptional Danish cabinetry, not only in looks but in form and practicality.

The cabinet has no end of uses, with possibilities in every room of the home. For use in the kitchen, storing tableware, plates, cutlery - or even as a wardrobe in the bedroom. The size of this unit makes it a true multi-functional antique peice.

The cabinet comes with a set of 2 keys which both fit across every lock in the unit.
