Petite rosewood cabinet by Ib Kofod Larsen for Faarup
Petite, crisp and practical rosewood cabinet with 2 doors featuring a book leaf veneer which makes a wonderful pattern out of the naturally beautiful wood grain.
Designed by Ib Kofod Larsen - Produced by Faarup Mobelfabrik - Model: FA 657 - Year of design circa 1964
The cabinet is a part of a modular Wall System design by Kofod Larsen in the early mid-1960s.
The minimalist FA 657 system featured a variety of different elements which could be bought and used separately or together in a number of different configurations.
The doors are opened with ease thanks to a carved finger grip on top of each door. Internally the storage space is divided into two sections. The space on the right is itself divided into two sections by an adjustable/removable shelf.
As the cabinet was designed to be used with an optional bookcase top it is very strong and would easily accommodate a large television.
Two small holes in which dowels could be placed to fix a bookcase were present in the top of the cabinet but these have been filled with furniture restoration wax to create an uninterrupted surface.
Condition: Excellent, the rosewood retains its rich colour and boast a smashing patina and only minor signs of use consummate with age.
