Impressive 1970s large Danish rosewood rectangular lounge table with tiled top
The table is rectangular in shape, the top frame is solid rosewood as are the chunky legs the square tiles are ceramic. Small one directional wheels are fitted to each leg. Depending how the legs are attached the coffee table can glide from side to side OR up and down.
The pattern and colour on the tiles is reminiscent of the designs coming out of The Royal Copenhagen ceramics factory around this date.
In slight relief, the tiles are salt glazed which means each tile, although similar, is actually unique. The salt glaze also gives the tiled top a mild glossy and smooth finish.
Salt glaze decoration is created by throwing salts into the kiln during the firing process.
A tiled surface coffee table means that you can place hot items directly on to it without having to worry about damage.
Condition: All the tiles are intact, the rosewood has retained it richness, is showing beautiful patina which is enhanced by the oiled finish and very few signs of use.
The framed tiled top scan be dismantled from the legs for easy shipping/transportation.
